On Farmer Fiona’s colorful farm, there lived a peculiar pig named Asher. Unlike his muddy siblings who loved to roll in the squishy earth, Asher dreamed of something quite different. He wanted a pair of glasses.
“Why would a pig need glasses?” the other farm animals would ask, giggling behind their hooves and paws.
But Asher was determined. He’d seen Farmer Fiona’s spectacles perched on her nose, making her eyes look big and wise. “If glasses can make Farmer Fiona see better,” Asher thought, “imagine what they could do for me!”
One sunny morning, Asher decided to embark on his quest for the perfect pair of glasses. He trotted over to the chicken coop, where old Mrs. Cluckington was pecking at the ground.
“Mrs. Cluckington,” Asher oinked politely, “might you have a spare pair of glasses?”
The old hen cocked her head to one side. “Glasses? Oh, dearie me, no. But I do have these!” She proudly displayed her collection of shiny pebbles.
Asher sighed. “Thank you, but I don’t think pebbles will help me see better.”
Next, he visited Baa-rbara the sheep. “Baa-rbara, do you have any glasses I could borrow?”
Baa-rbara looked puzzled. “No glasses here, Asher. But I have plenty of wool! Would you like a woolly sweater instead?”
Asher politely declined and continued his search. He asked Moo-lissa the cow, who offered him a bell, and Hee-Haw the donkey, who suggested his carrot might do the trick.
Feeling a bit discouraged, Asher decided to take a break by the pond. As he gazed at his reflection in the water, he noticed something peculiar. The ripples in the pond made his eyes look bigger, just like Farmer Fiona’s glasses!
Excited by his discovery, Asher dipped his snout into the water and lifted his head quickly, creating a water droplet that clung to his nose like a lens. “Eureka!” he squealed. “I’ve found my glasses!”
Proudly, Asher paraded around the farm with his water droplet glasses, feeling very scholarly indeed. The other animals watched in amazement as Asher confidently strode past them, his nose held high.
But there was one small problem. Every few steps, Asher had to dip his snout back into the pond to refresh his “glasses.” Soon, he was leaving a trail of muddy puddles all over the farm.
Farmer Fiona noticed the mess and followed the trail of puddles right to Asher. “What in the world are you up to, little piggy?” she asked, trying not to laugh at the sight of Asher with a water droplet balanced on his snout.
Asher explained his quest for glasses, and Farmer Fiona’s heart melted. “Oh, Asher,” she said kindly, “you don’t need glasses to be smart or special. You’re perfect just the way you are!”
To make Asher feel better, Farmer Fiona fashioned him a pair of “glasses” from two empty apple cores held together with a piece of straw. Asher was overjoyed with his new accessory.
From that day on, Asher wore his apple core glasses proudly. He may not have been able to see any better, but he felt smarter than ever. And the best part? His new glasses were deliciously edible!
As the sun set on the farm, Asher snuggled into his cozy pen, his apple core glasses resting beside him. He drifted off to sleep, dreaming of all the adventures he’d have tomorrow - perhaps he’d even start a new fashion trend among the farm animals!
And so, the pig who wanted a pair of glasses learned that sometimes, the things we think we need aren’t always what make us special. It’s our unique qualities and the love of our friends that truly matter.
With that thought, Asher gave a contented little snort and fell into a deep, happy sleep, eager for whatever silly adventure tomorrow might bring.
The End.
