Santa’s Surprise- A Christmas Morning Mystery
Xavier helps Santa deliver presents when his magic spell goes awry, saving Christmas.

Xavier wiggled his toes beneath his cozy blanket, his eyes wide open despite the late hour. It was Christmas Eve, and the excitement bubbling in his tummy made it impossible to sleep. He listened intently for any sound of sleigh bells or reindeer hooves on the roof, but all he heard was the gentle ticking of his rocket ship clock.
Just as Xavier was about to give up and try counting sheep, he heard a soft thump from downstairs. His heart raced. Could it be Santa? Unable to resist, he tiptoed out of bed and crept down the stairs, careful to avoid the creaky third step.
As he peeked around the corner into the living room, Xavier gasped. There, by the twinkling Christmas tree, stood Santa Claus himself! But something was different. Santa wasn’t jolly and round; he was tall and thin, with a worried look on his face.
“Oh dear, oh dear,” Santa muttered, pacing back and forth. “Whatever shall I do?”
Xavier couldn’t contain his curiosity any longer. “Santa?” he whispered. “Is everything okay?”
Santa jumped, startled by Xavier’s voice. “Oh! Hello there, young Xavier,” he said with a gentle smile. “I’m afraid we have a bit of a Christmas crisis on our hands.”
Xavier’s eyes widened. “A crisis? Can I help?”
Santa nodded, stroking his beard thoughtfully. “You see, my magic has gone a bit wonky. I was trying out a new spell to make gift-giving even more efficient, but instead, it’s made me skinny as a candy cane! And now, I can’t fit down the chimneys to deliver presents.”
Xavier’s brow furrowed as he thought hard. “What if… what if we delivered the presents together?” he suggested. “I’m small enough to fit down chimneys, and you have the magic to get us from house to house!”
Santa’s eyes twinkled. “That’s a brilliant idea, Xavier! But are you sure you want to give up your Christmas Eve sleep?”
Xavier nodded eagerly. “Of course! Helping others is what Christmas is all about, right?”
With a chuckle and a wave of his hand, Santa shrunk Xavier down to the size of an elf. Together, they zipped from house to house, Xavier shimmying down chimneys with armfuls of presents while Santa waited on the rooftops.
As they worked, Xavier learned all about Santa’s workshop, his reindeer, and the magic of Christmas. He even got to pet Rudolph’s nose, which felt warm and tingly!
Just as the sky began to lighten with the first rays of dawn, they finished their last delivery. Santa brought them back to Xavier’s house, where he returned the boy to his normal size.
“Thank you, Xavier,” Santa said warmly. “You’ve saved Christmas! And I do believe I’ve found the perfect cure for my magical mishap.” With a twinkle in his eye, Santa took a big bite of one of the cookies left out for him. Instantly, he began to grow rounder and jollier until he was back to his old self.
Xavier giggled with delight. “Cookie magic!”
Santa winked. “The best kind of magic there is. Now, off to bed with you. You’ve had quite the adventure!”
As Xavier snuggled back under his covers, he heard the faintest sound of sleigh bells fading into the distance. He smiled, knowing that he had been part of something truly magical.
The next morning, Xavier found a special gift under the tree – a snow globe with a miniature version of himself and Santa delivering presents. As he shook it, tiny snowflakes swirled around the figures, and he could almost hear Santa’s jolly laugh.
From that day on, whenever Xavier looked at the snow globe, he remembered the Christmas he helped save and the magic that comes from kindness and believing. And as he drifted off to sleep that night, he dreamed of future Christmases filled with wonder, joy, and maybe just a little bit of cookie magic.
